TEHRAN (IQNA) – The daughter of a late Egyptian Qari said her father was proud of serving the Holy Quran.

Speaking to a satellite TV channel on the 39th anniversary of Khalil al-Husary’s death, Yasmin al-Husary said her father loved the Book of God.

She added that he was also always fond of learning the Quran and enhancing his Quran recitation skills, al-Watan daily reported.

She went on to say that her father would like to recite the Quran so that people would listen and contemplate the verses of the Holy Book.

Born on September 17, 1917, Sheikh Khalil al-Husary was among the most prominent Quran reciters in Egypt.

He was the first Qari to release his Tarteel recitation of the entire Quran in cassettes.

Al-Husary was elected the head of the Muslim World’s Union of Quran Reciters in 1968.

He died on November 24, 1980, during a trip to Kuwait.
